Craig Reading, born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa. Being the eldest of three children, loved and cared for by both parents I grew up during "Apartheid" where it was very difficult for people of color. Thank God for former President Nelson Mandela that gave all South Africans equal rights and democracy by taking a stand. Like so many poor neighborhoods youngsters turned to crime, gangs and all other types of mischief. At the age of 12 I was involved in a fatal accident that no one should have survived, but God. After that terrible ordeal I knew there had to be a reason for my second chance at life. That same year I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at my church, Shekinah Full Gospel under the mentoring of my former spiritual leader Pastor Eddie Edson.
Through the years God has built my character and shown me favor by opening the doors to work on a cruise ship (QE2) as a waiter. That was a great experience and opportunity for me as a young man to see the world and be exposed to different cultures and countries.
After being employed on the cruise ship for two years, I came to the United State with the help of a friend and migrated to New Haven, Connecticut where he introduced me to Church on the Rock New Haven were I am now under the leadership of Pastors Todd & Leslie Foster.
Deep down I always had a desire to attend drama school in New York to pursue an acting career, but I ask God what did He want me to do. Two scriptures came to my heart "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness..." and "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding..." After God had spoken to me I knew I had to stay in New Haven. As time went on I still did not know what my purpose was, but one night while I was in my room mime dropped in my spirit. I said to God, but I have no experience not knowing what to do, that night by the leading of the Holy Spirit I taught myself my first song in front of a full length mirror. It all began to come together according to his perfect plan.
One thing I can say is that I am so thankful to God for ordering my steps. God has given me a beautiful family who I thank God for their love and support.
To the reader I hope you have been blessed and encouraged by my testimony. Remember what God did for me He can definitely do for you, for He is no respecter of a person. Just ask Him if you still don't know your purpose just ask him, and He is faithful to answer.
The best is yet to come! |
